Selectmen to Elect New Chairman, Vice Chairman Tonight

Also, see what record will be set at tonight's meeting.

The Board of Selectmen will elect a new chairman and vice chairman tonight, as it’s the board’s first meeting after Saturday’s Town Elections.

Selectman Kevin Greeley, who was re-elected on Saturday, served as the board’s chairman over the last year, Selectman Daniel Dunn as vice chairman.

In addition to Greeley and Dunn, Diane Mahon, Joseph Curro Jr. and Steven Byrne round out the board.

Also tonight, Greeley will surpass Charles Lyons as the longest serving selectman in town history, as he’ll enter his 25th year on the board. Lyons served 24 years, from 1981-2005.

The board will also hear from Patsy Kraemer, of the Arlington Farmers’ Market. Based on the board’s agenda, Harvard-based Still River Winery and Coastal Vineyards, of South Dartmouth, are looking to sell wine at this year's market. The market, with the permission of the board, began including wine vendors last year.

Although it’s not on the agenda, we expect that the board will discuss the outcome of Question 1 as it relates to the Mass. Ave. Corridor Project as well.

The board’s meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Chambers on the second floor of Town Hall.
