In the aftermath of last year’s Boston Marathon bombings, Arlington Youth Lacrosse president Dave Gordon came up with a unique idea. Give young kids participating in his Charity Small Ball Jamboree an opportunity to come together and support One Fund Boston by wearing special socks.
From that idea came ChariToes and ChariToes.com — set up and maintained by Gordon, his wife Keira and their four children — where people can purchase the socks, which range in price from $9-$12, a portion of which goes to One Fund Boston.
This year’s jamboree, which will host 48 teams and close to 1,000 players from 15 area towns, takes place tomorrow at Arlington High School. Proceeds from the event will be split between One Fund Boston and the Lieutenant Walsh-Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund
