Stratton Parents Air Concerns
Parents told the School Committee this week they worry efficiencies are being made at their expense as a result of Thompson rebuild project.

parents are saying that they’re ready to welcome the community with open arms, but some say efficiencies are being made at their expense.
“The gap between Stratton and (the district’s) other elementary schools has grown wider,” said Chris Carmody, co-president of Stratton’s PTO.
Carmody and other parents seemed most concerned that retiring Stratton Principal Alan Brown is being replaced with a half-time position. They said they want to know what Superintendent Kathleen Bodie and the School Committee have planned for Stratton moving forward.

As a result of the $20 million Thompson rebuild project, , Stratton will house Thompson students in kindergarten through second grade over the next two years.
Brown, who was at this week's School Committee meeting, recommended that Stratton and Thompson teachers and PTOs get together to make the transition as smooth as possible. He said the PTOs have already touched base, and Bodie said the teachers have as well.

Thompson students in grades 3-4 will attend the and students in grade 5 will attend the if the June 7 override vote passes. If it fails, Thompson students in grades 3-5 will attend Hardy.
