The King of Jesters at the Regent Theatre
Alexander the Jester (Alex O'Brien Feldman) is playing this Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Regent Theatre. Speaking with Alex, he details his unique blend of comedic and foolish revelry.
Looking for a throw-back to the classic age of the court fool? Want an event that both kids and adults can enjoy? Look no further than the this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for Alexander the Jester, a modern interpretation of the medieval court fool.
Alex detailed his uncommon blend of mischief and comedy.
"I love to work a universal language that works around the world because I've worked in 20 countries," he said. "It harkens back to the original court jesters who spoke in a kind of gibberish that everyone could and couldn't understand at the same time."
Last week Alex was in New York City competing as a finalist for The Andy Kaufman Award, a prize given to comedians with an original voice. Alex looks to emulate Kaufman's abstract blend of comedy and music and give it his own spin during his performances.
"The fool is someone who shows that someone doesn't have to act so proper and care about what others think of us," Alex said. "I'm a man with a house, a wife and two kids, but I dress in colored tights and curling toes and prance around stage not caring what people think. It is such a trip to make people laugh with something people haven't seen before."
Alex thanked the "Comedy Gods" for the times he's bombed because it taught him to better his show and his strength in himself.
"I worked for maybe ten years before I got a tight act and national recognition," the jester explained. "I took longer in some ways because I did pretty weird stuff. Like Kaufmen, I go for the adventurous, something the audience might not see coming."
