Town Of Arlington: 2021 Water Rehabilitation Projects

The Town of Arlington will be completing Water Main Rehabilitation Projects in various locations throughout Town during the 2021 construction season.  These projects will replace water mains that have reached the end of their useful life and will improve water distribution system reliability.  Work is anticipated to be completed in two phases as detailed below.

Phase 1

Phase 1 of the 2021 Water Rehabilitation Project has been contracted to GTA Co., Inc. (GTA), and will occur on the following roadways: 

• Blossom Street (Park Avenue Extension to Sunset Road)
• Brattle Street (Hemlock Road to Woodside Lane)
• Newland Road (Bow Street to Summer Street)
• Oakledge Street

Work will begin in June and is expected to be completed by the end of summer.  For additional Phase 1 project details, answers to some frequently asked questions, and construction updates, please reference the construction notice and project updates notice. 

Phase 2

Phase 2 of the 2021 Water Rehabilitation Project has also been contracted to GTA, and will occur on the following roadways: 

• Broadway (Sunnyside Avenue east to the Town line)
• Gardner  Street (Fremont Street to Decatur Street)
• Memorial Way
• Sunnyside Avenue

Work is expected to begin in late October through the end of the 2021 construction season (late fall/early winter as weather allows).  Remaining work will recommence in the spring of 2022 and is expected to be completed by summer 2022.  This project is being completed in response to water main breaks in the neighborhood and is being designed to avoid impacts to newly installed sidewalks.  For additional Phase 2 project details, answers to some frequently asked questions, and construction updates, please reference the construction notice and project updates notice.
