Town Of Arlington: Yard Waste Collection- Rules And Updates

See the latest announcement from Town of Arlington.

11/02/2021

They're fall fast now, but still many more leaves are on the trees....yet to come.
Yard waste volumes can be very unpredictable in the fall, so if others on your route have a lot of material out for collection and the truck fills up quickly, they have to dump it before they can continue the route. If that happens towards the end of the day, then the rest of that route will be collected the following day. For public health reasons, trash and recycling collection are prioritized over yard waste.

If your street is missed for any material collection, please contact JRM at customerservice@jrmhauling.com or at 800-323-4285 and press ext. 1 and leaving a message about which material was missed (trash, recycling, or yard waste). Be sure to leave your address. You may not receive a call back, but your street will be recorded and revisited the following day.

Please be sure your yard waste is prepared correctly:

  • Yard waste must be in paper yard waste bags or barrels with a Town “Yard Trimmings" sticker available at Shattucks hardware stores or at DPW, 51 Grove Street, during business hours– no plastic bags.
  • Small branches and twigs must be 3 feet or shorter and under 1 inch thick. It's preferred that these are placed in a bag or marked barrel, but if you want to tie them up, they may be bundled using decomposable twine. Please don't make them heavy.
  • No soil, stumps, or root balls of any size will be collected.
  • No plastic or trash can be mixed in
  • Any material not allowed by our program would need to be disposed of privately, either by calling a landscaping company or dropping it off at a business that accepts residential yard waste drop off, for a fee. There is no such business in Arlington, and no other town will accept Arlington's residential yard waste.
