Vietnam Veterans' 'Moving Wall' Coming to Arlington
Town and local veterans' organizations need to raise $20,000 for project.

Area residents won’t have to travel to the nation’s capital this spring to experience the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.
The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Washington D.C. monument, is coming to Arlington in April – as long as the town and local veterans' organizations can raise the needed $20,000 through donations.
A 14-member committee, made up of local veterans and their family members and supporters, is overseeing the process.

“We want to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, honor those Vietnam veterans who are here with us today and educate the public and our children about the sacrifices that were made during the Vietnam War,” the committee wrote in a press release.
The committee has already raised $1,250 toward the project.

The Moving Wall would go up behind at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, and be available for viewing 24 hours a day until the morning of Monday, April 18. Although it’s early in the process, a ceremony has been planned at the wall on that Saturday, April 16.
The Moving Wall, which has been traveling around the country for more than 20 years, contains all the 58,267 names on the Washington D.C. memorial, including the eight from Arlington.
The town, in conjunction with local veterans’ organizations, put in an application for the wall more than a year ago. The wall is overseen by the Michigan-based nonprofit Vietnam Combat Veterans.
Those interested in donating to the project can make tax-deductible contributions here or by sending a check made out to “Town of Arlington/Moving Wall” to:
