Want More Info on Last Week’s Tanker Spill?

A public meeting is being held Saturday morning in West Medford.

Today is Friday, June 7. Here are five things you need to know.

1.) If you still have questions about last week’s tanker spill, a public meeting has been set for 9 a.m. Saturday at the West Medford Community Center, 111 Arlington St.

Representatives from the state Department of Environmental Protection, which is supervising Clean Harbors’ cleanup, Mystic River Watershed Association, City of Medford and Town of Arlington will all be on hand.

2.) Town Hall’s 100th birthday celebration is this evening. The event starts with a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Winfield Robbins Memorial Garden and continues with a historical narrative, musical presentations and birthday cake from 7:15-9 p.m. in Town Hall. 3.) Arlington High School graduation is at 1 p.m. Sunday at Peirce Field (or inside the high school of it’s raining). Congratulations to the Class of 2013, and see photos Arlington’s local celebrities when they were young.

5.) Tropical Storm Andrea is expected to bring downpours today and into Saturday. Sunday’s graduation forecast looks OK as of now though, with a slight chance of showers before noon and partly sunny skies with a high near 78 after, according to the National Weather Service.
