Who Is Gustafer Yellowgold? Coming To Arlington
He's got a show at the Regent Theatre Saturday morning.

ARLINGTON, MA — Morgan Taylor is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, cartoonist and creator of Gustafer Yellowgold. Since 2009 he's made Arlington a stop on his tour. This weekend he'll be stopping through Arlington to showcase his eighth album at the Regent Theatre. He took a couple minutes to chat with Patch over email about his unique world of music, art and his new album. The new album, Brighter Side thematically expands on the two stories of the series’ protagonist, Gustafer, from his current life in Minnesota back to his years spent growing up on the Sun.

Patch: How did you become Gustafer Yellowgold?
Well...I took one heaping ladle of soft 70’s rock, one pinch of Mad Magazine, a dash of Dr. Suess and mixed just until there were no lumps. Really - It’s a blend of my passions - music and art - I’m a cartoonist/musician - Gustafer’s birth was inevitable!

What do you hope children and their families will get from your music and character?
Most of all, joy! Inspired, oddball creativity, and music stuck in their heads.
My goal is to reach the adults and children equally from different levels.
What's been most fun on this tour?
Getting to debut new material for my returning fans, and see the happiness when I play their old favorites!

Most surprising thing about touring?
Honestly - the surprise is when the crowd keeps showing up! I take nothing for granted, and I’m thrilled to
always see the new faces and play for the die-hards every year!
Why Arlington? (Have you been before?)
I love the Regent Theater, the movie screen is enormous - perfect to really get absorbed into animation/storytelling of my show. I have played Arlington at least once a year since 2009, I think?
Anything else you want folks to know?
I’m a joker, but I take the craft of it all very seriously, my vision is to keep the music and art of Gustafer Yellowgold in an odd and blissful balance of sophistication and whimsy.
