1st Annual Chili & Chowder Cook-Off to benefit Special Olympics

The Fraternal Order of Police will be hosting the Chili & Chowder Cook-Off on Saturday October 18th from 2 pm - 5 pm at the Attleboro Elks

Sixteen area restaurants and police unions will be serving up their best Chili & Chowder at the 1st Annual Chili and Chowder Cook-Off to benefit Special Olympics Massachusetts. The event will be held on Saturday October 18th from 2 pm until 5 pm and is being sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police Bay State Lodge.

The sixteen restaurants and organizations will be competing in three different divisions, Restaurant/Professional, Public Safety and Novice. Trophies will be awarded to the top three Chilis and Chowders in each category. All attendees will be able to vote for the coveted “People’s Choice” award. There will also be an award for the creative table decorations.

The restaurants and groups competing this year are, Fresh Catch, Chili’s, Eagle Brook Saloon, Wetherlaines, Commonwealth BBQ , Young’s Catering, The Clam Shack, Barrett’s Alehouse, Attleboro Elks, Pike’s Peak, Community Efforts Fundraising, Alberto’s, Boneyard Barbecue and Saloon and Novatos Bar & Grill. The North Attleboro Police Patrolman’s Association is battling the Attleboro Police Association to see who will have the best chili in the Public Safety Division.

A panel of celebrity judges that will conduct blind taste tests to vote for the best chili & chowder in each division. There will also be many silent auction items to bid on, that includes a signed Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady Patriot jerseys. There will also be a raffle for a Microsoft Surface 2 Tablet. “The Fraternal Order of Police is thrilled to organize this event and support Special Olympics.” said Det. Sgt. Larry Crosman, event chairman. “The FOP is covering all of the costs associated with the event, so 100% of money raised by ticket sales, silent auction and raffle will go to Special Olympics.”
