Community Corner

2014 URI Graduate Conference

On Saturday, March 29th, the University of Rhode Island will
host the Graduate Student Conference in the new Pharmacy Building at the
Kingston campus (7 Greenhouse Road, Kingston, South Kingstown, RI) starting at
8am.

Now in its 8th year, the URI Graduate Student Conference is a
unique opportunity for graduate students to present their scholarly work at URI
in a formal conference setting.  Run by graduate student volunteers, the
Graduate Conference Committee invites local, regional, and international
students to attend and present their research.  This year the Conference
is also inviting undergrads as well as community members to see and interact
with the work done at URI and surrounding academic communities.  The theme
for 2014 is Opening Spaces: Enabling Engagement with Complex
Conversations
.  Joint faculty speakers will be Professors Miles
(Writing & Rhetoric) and Amador (Soil Science and Microbial Ecology), and
keynote speaker will be Rev. Dr. L. Weldon Palmer of Kingston
Congregational Church in Kingston, RI.  Registration costs $25/person
(free for those with URI ID), and includes a conference bag, continental
breakfast, buffet lunch, and closing reception (please note closing reception
is available only to those over 21).  Registration and other information
can be found at www.urigradconference.org or by
emailing urigradconference2014@gmail.com.
