Attleboro Bombardiers Blow Past Sharon on the Basketball Court

Attleboro High School beats Sharon 81-46.

The Attleboro High School varsity boys basketball team played against head coach Mark Houle in the second half of Thursday's game at Sharon.

Houle challenged his team to play stronger defensively after a late second-quarter Sharon rally left Attleboro ahead by 11 at halftime, 39-28.

The Blue Bombardiers held the Eagles to 18 second-half points en route to an 81-46 victory.

"The big thing is, the second quarter, I think we let our guard down defensively," Houle said.

"They (Sharon) did a nice job of spreading us out, got more jumpshots. They got some effort points on offensive rebounds, and some hustle points.

"We challenged the kids at halftime to come out and play a good defensive game. I think that was the difference. Our defense in the second half was very good. We didn't allow any second-chance points."

Offensively, Attleboro (15-4) had five players score at least 10 points.

Senior forward Kebba Nasso had 18, senior captain and guard Nate Robitaille 16, senior guard Mahlik Johnson 15 and junior guard J.J. Jolaoso 10.

"When you're doing well defensively -- with us, anyway -- we really feed off our defense. We got some breakouts. It's the tempo of the game that we like to have. We got that, I would say, for about three quarters today," Houle said.

Sharon (9-10) was led by senior captain and forward Eric Bennett's 11 points, and 7 each from senior captain and guard Eric Tung and freshman guard Brian Mukasa.

"We just got intimidated by their (Attleboro) size, their jumping ability, their athleticism," head coach Bruce Jackman said.

"We just didn't do our job. I thought we were ready to play them, but I guess sometimes you can't play with a team that's that athletic."

Attleboro next plays at 6:30 p.m. Monday at home against Bishop Feehan. It's the Blue Bombardiers' senior night, Houle said.

Sharon is off until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, when they host Natick.
