Cabin Fever is Shut Out

The yard work begins.

April seems to be the month when many homeowners begin their outdoor therapy for cabin fever. It’s a nice feeling to see your neighbors outside doing yard work and cleaning up from a very tough winter. We also are able to engage in small conversations with our neighbors and the smell of burning debris is in the air. Spring fever is now upon us.

Last week I discussed the major flooding of last year. As a “flood victim” I’ve done my share of research to make sure that my home is prepared for April showers. In my readings I have found the following main items should be done:

  1. Keep water away from your foundation.
  2. Make sure your gutters are clean and have your down sprouts go away from your home.
  3. Have the grading of your yard around your house so it is sloping away from the foundation.
  4. Seal foundation cracks with epoxy glue.

As always seek a professional when in doubt on doing this type of work to your home.

Seekonk is off to a very busy spring real estate market. According to the MA MLS, in the past month or so, 16 new listings have hit the market; eight went under agreement and 12 have sold.

This type of activity indicates that we are heading in the right direction for a healthy real estate market.
