Child Porn Sentence for Attleboro Man: ICYMI

Attleboro, MA — An Attleboro man on Tuesday was sentenced in federal court after he was convicted of possessing nearly 5,000 child pornography files.

William Duffy, 59, was sentenced to four years in prison.

In May 2015, authorities raided Duffy's other residence in Sebago, Maine and discovered 4,475 photos and 261 videos depicting child sex abuse images on his computer.

Duffy's sentenced was imposed by Judge George Singal in U.S. District Court in Portland, Maine.

“Simply creating a market for child pornography guarantees that more children will be abused," Singal said during the sentencing. "The impact of early childhood abuse never goes away ... We have a population ... of [people] who live day by day knowing that the videos and photographs of their abuse are not only being distributed but are continuing to fuel sexual gratification of people who view them."

Singal is facing rape charges in a separate case.
