Coronavirus: Inmate Release Alert System In Bristol County
Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson said residents will be informed of crimes released inmates were accused of committing.
ATTLEBORO, MA — Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson said he will release lists of crimes that those released from the Bristol County ICE Detention Center were charged with, or convicted of, following mandated releases amid the new coronavirus health emergency. While Hodgson said he is prohibited from releasing names of those accused, he can release the crimes because: "the law-abiding people of Bristol County and beyond have a right to know just who is being released back into their communities."
Hodgson said that no prisoners in the system have tested positive for the coronavirus as of Monday.
Hodgson said more than 30 undocumented immigrants were released from ICE custody and Bristol County correction facilities as of Monday. He said some of those 30 had deportation orders to their country of origin removed, and could be staying in the area

"We're going to share the criminal history of the people the justice system has ordered be released from custody due to COVID-19, and we'll update the list every time new releases are ordered and processed," Hodgson said. "We're doing this for your safety. Simply put, you have the right to know who may be walking around your neighborhoods because of these court decisions."
Hodgson said the list of crimes includes rape, robbery, assault, fraud and trafficking fentanyl. A full list of the crimes can be found here.
