Dayspring Academy Students are Buzzing for the Geography Bee

Twelve students at Dayspring Christian Academy in South Attleboro are counting down the days to their regional geography bee.

middle school students have been studying for weeks in preparation for the 2011 Eastern Massachusetts/Rhode Island Region Geography Bee of the Northeast District of the Association of Christian Schools International. 

The 12 students, who will be competing at the Community Chrisitian Academy of Lowell on Wednesday, Jan. 26, were the 11 finalists and final winner of the South Attleboro school's own geography bee.

Seventh-grader Jacob Clark, the school's champion, along with sixth-graders Jaret Pires, John Henry Manosh, Rachel Mayer and Jaison Ragnaught; seventh-graders Sydney Dyer, Ashwini Asirwatham and Rebecca Ferreira; and eighth-graders Johnathan Hay, Elyjah Hudson, Austin Lynch and Cherubin Manokaran were coached by social studies teacher Meredith Gilbert.

Earlier in the school year, Dayspring students studied a 500-word list and competed in the New York/New England District Spelling Bee. Dayspring took home first place.
