Dayspring Christian Academy's Class of 2011 Students Move Their Tassels to the Left

Students at Dayspring moved their tassels during Thursday's graduation day ceremony.

It was an exciting day for 17 seniors at Dayspring Christian Academy in Attleboro. The students, dressed in their royal blue caps and gowns, received graduation diplomas Thursday during the school's annual commencement exercises at the adjacent South Attleboro Assembly of God Church, according to school administrators.

The grads were told by the top two ranked students in the class to cherish their memories of the school and to heed the lessons they learned at DCA for the rest of their lives. Frank Rydwansky, DCA’s administrator, Murray Petrarca, chairman of the DCA School Committee, Robert Lavallee, spiritual life director and Jeffrey Motta, a middle-school teacher distributed the diplomas to the graduates.

“The foundation of your life skills built here at Dayspring will help you survive the challenges of the future,” Motta said during the commencement. “Tonight, it is time for you to turn the page and face your next challenges as you head to high school. Develop your God-given talents and be proud of who you are.”

Dayspring valedictorian Cherubin Manokaran thanked God, his teachers, his classmates (70 percent of whom received were honor roll students) and especially his family.

“I thank my parents for having the courage to leave Sri Lanka years ago and to give my sister and me the opportunities found here in the United States,” Manokaran said. “I thank my sister for helping me become the person I am today.”
