Students from Seekonk High School and their parents along with high school staff and community members will come together for an evening forum to help them learn how to open the lines of communication.
Guest speaker Stephen Wallace, Chairman and CEO of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), will be presenting SADD’s Family Focus program. Wallace has broad experience as a school psychologist and adolescent counselor and speaks frequently to young people, adults, and families about youth development and decision-making. He is the author of the new book Reality Gap: Alcohol, Drugs, and Sex – What Parents Don’t Know and Teens Aren’t Telling.
By mixing stories and humor with audience participation and SADD’s groundbreaking research, Wallace sheds new light on the most difficult issues facing teens today: underage drinking, other substance abuse, risky and impaired driving, and teen violence and suicide.
Family Focus program helps bridge the communication gap between parents and teens by bringing them together for a candid, constructive forum. This one-hour dynamic, motivational presentation helps empower teens to choose healthier lifestyles and provides parents and other caring adults with practical tools and advice to better influence their teens’ decision-making and promote open, honest family communication. Following Wallace’s presentation there will be time for questions and answers.
