Parables: More than just a story

A ten-week teaching series on the Parables of Jesus begins Sunday, July 10th at Good News Bible Chapel, 235 West Street, Attleboro at 10:45am.

“Parables: more than just a story” will focus on ten of the Parables of Jesus.

“The parables have been absorbed in our popular culture,” said Steve DuPlessie, the teaching Pastor at GNBC. “People talk about someone as “the prodigal son” or a “good Samaritan,” sometimes not knowing that they are from stories that Jesus told to make a point.”

The teaching team for the series includes DuPlessie with Wes Silva, Dan Elkins, Ben Parker and Dan Stebbings.

“The parables contain the core, authentic teaching of Jesus,” said Silva.

“Using video and drama, each message will explore the text and the first century culture behind the story,” said DuPlessie, “and look at the real-life application for us today.”

“The parables of Jesus are all about what to do and how to think,” writes Klyne Snodgrass, professor New Testament studies at North Park Theological Seminary in Stories with Intent: a comprehensive guide to the Parables of Jesus.

Xcellent News Kids!, safe, fun Christian Education for kids, preschool through 8th grade, is also at 10:45am.
