New Hope, Inc. will host its Second Annual “Walk for Hope,” a walk to raise awareness and funds for the non-profit agency’s mission of “Ending Domestic and Sexual Violence in Our Community.” The family-friendly event will be held at the Mansfield Holiday Inn (31 Hampshire Street, Mansfield) on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Walker registration begins at 8:30am, with the walk scheduled to kick off at 10am. Family Fun Zone activities are available from 10:30am-12:30pm.
The walk is a gentle 5K route around the Mansfield Industrial Park. Before beginning, walkers can take part in a guided stretching session, provided by Houghton Physical Therapy & Sports Conditioning of Attleboro.
Following the walk, walkers and the general public are invited back to the Mansfield Holiday Inn for donated Family Fun Zone activities including an appearance by the Boston Breakers Professional Women’s Soccer Team; a DJ booth, music and games by Party Life DJ and Karaoke Services (of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts); arts & crafts activities by the Attleboro Arts Museum (Attleboro) and Tatutina (Pawtucket, RI); two chair massage stations by Time for You Massage (Attleboro) and Wicked Good Chiropractic (Mansfield); hair braiding and beading by Head to Toes Salon and Day Spa (Foxboro); a bouncy house/moonwalk by Let’s Party (Norton); an appearance by Smokey the Bear with his patrol truck; and a truck from Munroe Dairy (E. Providence, RI). Leadership Sponsor, Vantel Pearls in the Oyster (Foxboro), will feature an interactive booth where guests can watch as genuine pearls (in white, cream, pink, blue or black) are opened from real oysters; enter raffles to win a Vantel Pearls gift basket; and purchase beautiful New Hope necklaces featuring purple ribbons symbolizing the cause of ending domestic violence (all proceeds to benefit New Hope, Inc.). In addition, anyone who books a Vantel Pearls party that day will receive a free oyster, pearl and ring.
Fun Zone activities are open to walkers as well as the general public. Walkers can register individually or with a team, with a registration fee of $20 for individuals and $100 for a team of six members ($10 per additional walker for teams over six people). Non-walkers can participate in Fun Zone activities with a donation of $10 for families and $5 for individuals. Walkers can register easily on New Hope’s website at www.new-hope.org, by clicking on the FirstGiving link (this site allows walkers to register as well as to track their individual or team fundraising goals).
