YMCA Get Outdoors! Day

On Saturday, April 16, the Attleboro YMCA is encouraging all kids and parents in Attleboro and Norton to come to the Y’s Norton Outdoor Center for Get Outdoors! Day. It’s all part of the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day™ – the nation’s largest health day for families. The free event will take place at the Y’s Norton Outdoor Center, located at 290 West Main Street on Route 123, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Activities will include nature hikes, family relay races, family exercise programs, games, crafts, boat safety, healthy snacks and more.

As a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening community through healthy living, the Y holds Healthy Kids Day to teach healthy habits to kids and inspire a lifetime love of physical activity. The Attleboro Y’s Get Outdoors! Day celebrates the virtues of fresh air, family unity, and the simple joy of outside play.

The Attleboro Y’s staff will offer activities and presentations about how to stay active, healthy, and happy as a family this summer – from group exercise programs like BodyAttack, to gymnastics obstacle courses, and games offered by the Y’s summer camp staff.

Plus, the Attleboro Y is proud to host representatives from a number of community partners who will offer additional activities for the whole family. Staff from the Massachusetts Audubon Oak Knoll and Attleboro Springs sanctuaries will lead guided nature hikes through the fields and woodlands of the Y’s 80-acre recreational facility. The Norton Fire Department will provide information about summer safety while offering kids a chance to explore one of the department trucks. Trinity Bar & Restaurant will present a seminar and recipes about healthy snacks, while Norton Kayak Company will be on site with dry-land activities about boating safety.

Nationally, Healthy Kids Day is supported by the Dodge brand, PepsiCo and Sam’s Club. Healthy Kids Day will be celebrated at nearly 1,600 Ys across the country, with more than 700,000 families expected to attend this year.
