Families Have Fun in the Sun at Martin Elementary School

Martin Elementary School hosted its Spring Fling with lots of fun games for all ages.

It takes a team of volunteers to put together a successful event. Coordinators Darlene Sicard and Donna Ledoux pulled all those pieces together to produce a fun event for the families to enjoy at on Saturday. They used volunteers of all ages to run the games and other stations. The dunk tank is such a popular station each year, the students have to earn their spot to get wet.

The Seekonk fire department was on hand with its traveling safety house. This house is shared by those in the Fall River District 3 and was purchased with  S.A.F.E.(Student Awareness of Fire Education) grant funding. Lt Martin Ulak used the fire house to teach fire prevention and fire survival in an interactive manner. Most of the children were familiar with the procedures to stay safe in a fire.

It would not be a carnival without the games. There was everything from the traditional dunk tank, with the school principal, to ping pong ball toss for goldfish and the ever favorite, a pie-eating contest. Tony Medeiros provided music to play by and acted as an MC for the events.

A poplular addition was a booth donated by Best Buy of Seekonk and manned by store employees Justin Kmieciak and Emily Goyette. They offered students an opportunity to rock out to Guitar Hero on the big screen
