Why Go: David Lee Black is an award-winning photographer who references the depth of the natural world and its inhabitants. His images have the sense of telling a story. At this location, once you've viewed the exhibit, grab a bite to eat and drink.

Twas The Night Before Christmas
Where/When: The Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts, Sapinsley Hall, Rhode Island College, 600 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence; Saturday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m.
Why Go: The Providence Ballet Theatre presents the playful adaptation to Clemnent C. Moore's classic poem. Visions of sugar plum will dance and not a creature was stirring, until Saint Nicolas arrives.

Barty Smarty's Christmas Caper
Where/When: Barrington Public Library 281 County Road, Barrington; Sunday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m.
Why Go: Join Barty as he croons to you in your seat, busts a few moves down the aisle and forces you to sing along to his own version of holiday tunes. The festive music will be visually displayed on a video collage of classic holiday animations. There will be a few surprises that you won't want to miss.

The Polar Express
Where/When: Stadium Theatre 28 Monument Square, Woonsocket; Friday, Dec. 23, at 7 p.m.
Why Go: Grab some popcorn and get on board the polar express. This timeless classic shows we should all believe in being good and kind and you will hear the bells ring.
