Male and female students at Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro who competed in interscholastic athletics programs during the 2013-14 academic year were recently feted by the school during its annual Sports Banquet held at the American Legion Post 312 Hall in South Attleboro.
Pastor Jeffrey Bailey, GBCA’s superintendent, hosted the event in front of a large crowd of family members and schoolmates and praised the students for their commitment, dedication and adherence to Christian principles. He joined with Coach Billi Jo Nichols in reviewing the students’ achievements on the field and on the court during the past year.
Three of the school’s four varsity sports teams (girls’ volleyball, boys’ soccer and boys’ basketball) qualified to compete in the Regional Tournament sponsored by the New England Association of Christian Schools, while the fourth – girls’ basketball – lost in the championship game of its Massachusetts Association of Christian Schools’ State Tournament. The volleyball squad captured its third straight MACS regular-season and State Tournament titles, while the boys’ basketball contingent claimed its first MACS State Tournament crown in four years.
