Grace Baptist Christian Academy Student Receives Scholarship from Chamber of Commerce

Evan Tyrol of Attleboro, a senior at Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro, was one of more than a dozen local high school students who were feted by the United Regional Chamber of Commerce of North Attleboro.

Tyrol, who will graduate June 9 from GBCA, received a $500 scholarship thanks to Metalor Technologies of North Attleboro during the chamber’s annual “Spotlight on Education” held May 29 at Lake Pearl Luciano’s in Wrentham. High school seniors representing the chamber’s 16 communities were similarly honored during the event, which attracted 370 people.

In addition to his exemplary academic performance in high school, Tyrol is also an accomplished and award-winning pianist and was active in GBCA’s athletics and drama programs. He will attend Bob Jones University of Greenville, S.C., next year.

The May 29 program was chaired by Jack Lank, chamber president, and included a brief presentation from Massachusetts Rep. Elizabeth A. Poirier (R-North Attleboro).

“We are very proud and honored to have Evan receive a scholarship this year through the United Regional Chamber of Commerce,” said Pastor Jeffrey Bailey, GBCA’s superintendent (who also attended the May 29 function). “He is the first student from our school to ever earn this honor and we know he has a wonderful future.”
