Grace Baptist Christian Academy Students Express Support For Firefighters in Attleboro

Spurred by the tragic deaths Wednesday of two Boston firefighters, Students in Grades 1 through 12 at Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro donated food to and produced hand-made cards of support Thursday morning for Attleboro first responders.

One day after a lethal blaze in the Back Bay section of Boston claimed the lives of two of the city’s firefighters, GBCA students Thursday took time out of their regular studies to prepare food and create “Thank-you” cards for Attleboro firefighters. Junior high school and high school students prepared three platters of cold cuts and rolls, while elementary school students utilized their artistic abilities to manufacture cards of support in a school-wide community service project.

“After what happened yesterday in Boston, we thought it was a good idea in a time of tragedy to express our thanks to local firefighters for putting their lives on the line every day for us,” said Pastor Jeffrey Bailey, GBCA’s superintendent. “We thought this would be a nice gesture from us to express our gratitude to them.”

GBCA students organized multiple pounds of cold cuts and cheeses into three platters under the supervision of teacher Billi Jo Nichols. Prior to lunchtime, Pastor Bailey and several students personally delivered the food items and cards to three Attleboro firehouses, where they were gratefully received by city firefighters.
