Grace Baptist Christian Academy Students Stage

Students in grades 3 through 12 at Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro recently staged two impressive productions of a play based on the classic childhood book, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”

In front of large crowds on May 13 and May 16, GBCA students performed a pair of two-hour productions of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” at Plainville Baptist Church in Plainville. The play, based on the book of the same title written by C.S. Lewis and dramatized by Adrian Mitchell, was directed by GBCA teacher Jan Laramore, with assistance from Emma Lueken.

“The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” was published by Lewis as the first of his seven “Chronicles of Narnia” and is set in London during World War II. Two brothers and two sisters were sent to the English countryside to live with an eccentric uncle, and while there, discover a secret passage to the mythical land of Narnia through a wardrobe. The story chronicles their many exciting adventures in Narnia and is replete with religious symbols and connotations.
