The girls’ volleyball and boys’ soccer teams of Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro recently posted impressive non-league victories over Victory Christian Academy of Londonderry, N.H.
GBCA’s volleyball team blanked Victory, 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-20), while its soccer squad recorded an easy 7-2 triumph. The volleyball contingent is now 6-3 on the year, while the soccer unit is 5-7.
The Centurions’ superior size and athleticism highlighted their volleyball win over Victory as Kelly Nichols, Olivia Beals, Carrie Kirby, Jessica Rodrigues and Christine Soyja all excelled in multiple phases of the game. Emma Goyette and Chelsea Oliveira once more expertly handled setting and passing chores for the winners.

In other recent matches, GBCA topped Twin City Christian School of Lunenburg, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-22), in a Massachusetts Association of Christian Schools contest and bowed to Emmanuel Christian Academy of Newington, Conn., 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-15), and Merrimack Christian Academy of South Merrimack, N.H., 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-13, 25-20), in non-league clashes.
The Centurions’ soccer triumph over Victory was fueled by two-goal outputs from Alex Rodrigues and Will Evans along with solo-goal efforts by Evan Tyrol, Cam Desautell and Connor McLernon. Nate Corkum was credited with two assists for GBCA, Rodrigues contributed one assist and keeper Bryan Simet stopped six shots.

In other recent outings, the Centurions bowed to Bradford Christian Academy, 3-1, despite a goal from Rodrigues and seven saves in net by Shyheem Shorey; and lost to Barrington (R.I.) Christian Academy, 5-3, in spite of two goals by Corkum, a goal and an assist from Rodrigues, two assists by Evans and eight saves in goal from Shorey.
