Grace Baptist Girls' Basketball Team Posts Victory Over New England Baptist

Grace Baptist boys' basketball team falls to New England Baptist Academy of West Bridgewater.

The girls’ basketball team of Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro rallied to record a hard-fought 25-20 victory Tuesday over New England Baptist Academy of West Bridgewater in a Massachusetts Association of Christian Schools game played at The Sports Plex in Mansfield.

Jamie Emerson scored a team-high 9 points for the Centurions, who trailed by a 9-6 margin after one period before earning one-point advantages at the next two stops and pulling away in the final chapter.

GBCA is now 5-3 overall this year and 2-0 against MACS rivals.

In a recent non-league outing, the Centurions bowed to South Merrimack Christian School of Merrimack, N.H., 42-23. Olivia Beals topped GBCA with 6 points and Sara Allen added 5 points.

Also in non-league action, the Centurions dumped Bradford Christian Academy, 47-37, thanks to a 22-point performance by Emerson and a 10-point output from Allen.

Boys’ squad falls to Hawks

Also Tuesday in Mansfield, GBCA’s boys’ quintet dropped a 45-33 decision to NEBA. The Centurions trailed by just three points (19-16) at halftime before the Hawks posted a 26-17 advantage in the final two periods.

Zach Yoakum tallied 11 points and Connor McLernon finished with 7 points for GBCA, which dropped to 6-5 overall this winter and 1-1 opposite league rivals.

In a recent non-league clash, the Centurions wilted late and fell to South Merrimack, 56-52, despite 17 points from Andrew Schoepfer and 16 points by Shaheem Shorey. GBCA held a 16-6 lead after one quarter until surrendering 50 points during the final three chapters.

In another non-league tussle, GBCA routed Bradford, 68-44, as Schoepfer amassed 22 points, Tyler McGee contributed 12 points, McLernon and Yoakum both added 10 points and Will Evans ended with 8 points.
