Monster Truck Makes Stop in Seekonk
The monster truck "Back Draft" and driver Jeremy Slifko visited Seekonk in preparation for their performance this weekend in Providence.
Standing 12 feet tall, with nearly six foot tall tires and harnessing over 1500 horsepower, the monster truck “Backdraft” made for quite the imposing sight outside of the Advance Auto Parts in Seekonk Thursday.
Jeremy Slifko, the driver of “Backdraft,” joked “I just close my eyes” when asked what it is like to drive something that often spends a good amount of time 35 feet in the air jumping over cars.
But in reality, the rush of driving something as loud, powerful and large as a Monster Jam series monster truck is what draws him to the sport.

“It’s exciting," Slifko said. "It’s why I do it."
Slifko also said the fans are part of what makes the experience rewarding. He said he liked showing up in a small town like Seekonk and seeing 20 fans already waiting to see the truck and meet him.

“It’s not about the driving, it’s about the fans,” he said.
Slifko showed that by spending time with the fans, signing pictures, miniature versions of “Backdraft” and taking pictures with the assembled children.
Slifko seemed to make sure every fan there got their time, even making jokes to loosen up the shyer ones.
“Backdraft” and Slifko will be performing with other popular trucks such as “Gravedigger” and Eradicator” as part of the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam series at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence this Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
