More than 250 People Run Through Attleboro in 5K to Beat Cancer [VIDEO]
Residents from Attleboro and neighboring towns helped to raise more than $10,000 for cancer research.
They ran for friends, they ran for family, but most of all they ran in hopes that some day research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute will wipe out cancer.
More than 250 people laced up and ran the Sensata Technologies 5K race to beat cancer, a race that took runners through a 3.5 mile race through Attleboro streets Sunday morning.
Dorothy Gibny ran for nephew Dave Pagano, a cancer survivor.

"I ran for Dana Farber because they saved my nephew's life," she said of Pagano.
"They provide care for patients and cutting edge research to find a cure for cancer," said Sensata 5K Planning Committee Chairman Michael Elliott. "We all want to wipe out this disease."

Caren Bacchio and her three sons Owen, Evan and Adam along with her nephew Michael Gillis run to give back to great causes such as cancer research. Bacchio said her family enjoys running, but participating is a way to remind her children to participate in great community causes.
Since the race was first organized 14 years ago, participants have raised more than $155,000 for cancer research. While a total of $10,000 was collected as of Friday, Elliott said more money was raised that had not yet been tallied.
Elliott gave out awards to runners at the end of the race during an informal ceremony at the . Grace Kimmell who ran the the mile with a time of 11:11 was exciting by her win.
