N. Attleboro Man Arrested After Police Chase

Steven Brant struck an officer with his vehicle while fleeing but crashed after hitting stop sticks, police said.

NORWOOD, MA — A North Attleboro man this week was arrested on charges he struck a police officer with his truck during a wild chase through several towns.

Steven Brant, 29, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with a host of crimes, including assault with a dangerous weapon (his truck) and drugged driving.

The chase ended when Brant ran over stop sticks and crashed, police said.

It all started in Norwood at about 2 a.m., when an officer recognized Brant sitting in his truck, police said. Brant had six warrants for his arrest.

As the officer approached the vehicle, Brant sped off, hitting the officer, police said. The officer sustained minor injuries.

The chase weaved through Foxborough and Walpole, police said. State Police deployed stop sticks in Walpole and Brant ran over them, puncturing a tire, police said. He then crashed in Norwood on Prospect Street and was taken into custody.

Police said 53-year-old Kelly Dutcher of Norwood was in the passenger seat for the chase. She was arrested on a warrant.
