National Junior Honor Society Inducts Attleboro's Dayspring Chistian Academy Students

Dayspring Christian Academy students official members of the National Junior Honor Society.

inducted eight new members into its chapter of the National Junior Honor Society during a formal ceremony Friday night at the South Attleboro .

The eight sixth-grade, seventh-grade and eighth-grade students received certificates and pins which showed their inductions and endorsed a chapter registry signifying their status, according to the school's release about the event. They joined the 27 members of the chapter who were inducted during the past two years.

New inductees include Tara Iannelli, Rachel Mayer and Sharon Rajadurai of Grade 6; of Emily Ferguson and Faith Giammarco of Grade 7; and Jamie Lonczak, Nick Mastalerz and Brianna Milley of Grade 8.

The students were inducted as members who eximply the five pillars of the cocity wich includes – scholarship, leadership, citizenship, service and character.

To procure membership in a NJHS chapter, students must establish and maintain academic proficiency; make voluntary contributions to schools and/or communities; exhibit in-school leadership and problem-solving abilities; promote civic involvement and pride with their schools; and uphold principles of morality and ethics.

Student Affairs Director and physical ed teacher Emma Squibb – who has taught at DCA for the past 12 years – was extended an honorary member in the chapter for her contributions to the school. She was introduced by Admission Director Darlene DeCastro.

After reciting the NJHS pledge, the students received their certificates and were pinned by their parents. DCA Spiritual Advisor Robert Lavallee concluded the 45-minute ceremony with brief remarks and a closing prayer.

The National Junior Honor Society bills itself as “the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle-level students.”
