Nicole C. Mullen Rocks the Faith Christian Center

Two-time Grammy nominated vocalist Nicole C. Mullen made Seekonk a stop on her tour to help the Faith Christian Center raise funds for Children's Wishes.

(FCC) was teeming with concert-goers on Saturday night there to see Nicole C. Mullen, a nationally renowned Christian singer. The concert served as a fundraiser for Children's Wishes, a Providence-based organization that grants requests to Rhode Island children who have life threatening or a terminal illness.

In two years, the organization has granted 21 wishes, according to Executive Director Dana Hrabcsak. "We rely on donations and volunteers to grant their wishes," she said, noting Disney World, bedroom makeovers, computers, and shopping sprees are included in the requests.

According to Hrabcsak, the first wish was granted in October of 2009.

"We granted a wish to a young man named Brian's to go to the Demi Lovato concert at the Dunkin Donuts Center," she said. "We sent him in style with a new outfit, limo ride, dinner before the show, and a surprise meet and greet with Demi herself."

Volunteer and supporter, Anita Seraichyk credits her husband John with the idea to bring Nicole C. Mullen to Seekonk.

"He asked me to get tickets to a Mullen concert and when we couldn't find one he jokingly added maybe she would come here to do a Children's Wish Fundraiser." So Serouchyk sent off an email to Mullen's manager and received an email a few weeks later that she was interested. Six months later Serouchyk was at TF Green Airport to pick up Mullen.

This event not only brought Mullen but Dan Macaulay, who drove in from Connecticut but his band few in from his home in Canada to provide the opening worship for those in the audience. Macaulay has many accolades including winner of Canada’s 2007 Shai awards for “Worship Album of the Year” and “Male Soloist of the Year."

There was also an opportunity to become tested for a possible bone marrow match. Ann Hantschart, manned the sign up table to collect the forms and collect the check swabs, for DKMS. It only takes a moment to see if you can be a match to save a life. If you register with DKMS they cover the cost of appoximately $65 for each test. They fundraise and accept donations but do not bill the insurance companies for the fee.

93.7fm/1220AM WSTL, also known as Shine Radio, co-sponsored the event.
