POLL: Should Schools Mandate Vaccinations?

More than a thousand adults and children were vaccinated for whooping cough (pertussis) in Barrington last week .

As of Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases of whooping cough (pertussis) in the town had jumped to 21, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH). Meanwhile, in Middletown, at least at a local school this week.

The vaccination clinic in Barrington was organized by the Department of Health and was apparently the first in the state for whooping cough. It was not mandatory, although the health department after the reported cases.

Schools in our area are increasingly holding vaccination clinics that parents have to opt out of if they don't want their children to participate. As cases of illnesses like whooping cough rise in local schools, do you think the schools should mandate that children be vaccinated?
