Pride Hyundai Gives Local Girl Scouts a Lift

Pride Hyundai is helping local Girl Scouts with their annual cookie drive.

Pride Hyundai of Seekonk is partnering with the Girl Scouts of Rhode Island to support their 2012 Cookie Drive.

The Girl Scouts of Rhode Island kicked off their 2012 cookie drive with an event at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence on Sunday. Pride Hyundai was there with its Hyundai Accent “Cookie Car” — decked out in Girl Scout green and adorned with promotional graphics related to the Girl Scouts, including one of Pride Hyundai's Owner and President Anjos Pariseault’s “cookie moment.”

Donna Personeus, Pride Hyundai’s Director of Marketing, said the car dealership is making an effort to support organizations that are important to the employees and the community.

“We’re looking to get involved,” she said.

Personeus herself is a former a Girl Scout and Pariseault has a daughter who is one as well.

"They use the money for such wonderful things," said Personeus of the Girl Scouts.

The “Cookie Car” gets its name not from its outside decorations, but the contents of its trunk, which is filled to the brim with Thin Mints, Samoas, and other favorites as part of the dealership’s “Guess the Number of Cookies in this Accent” contest. Contestants can fill out an entry slip at the dealership located on 11 Taunton Avenue to guess how many cookies are in the car, and the winning guess gets to take home all of the treats.

The contest runs until the end of February and the winner will be announced March 1.

The dealership will also be supporting the Girl Scouts by letting them sell the cookies in the showroom, using the traveling “cookie car” as a rolling advertisement.

Proceeds from the cookie drive go to help the local Girl Scout troops with their camps, activities and other programs.
