Seekonk Cheerleaders Going to Nationals, Need Help Paying For It

The Seekonk Jr. Warriors seventh- and eighth-grade cheerleading squad is headed to a national competition in Florida, but they need help paying for the trip.

The Seekonk Jr. Warriors 13-and-under cheerleading squad will be traveling to the American Youth Football and Cheer National Championships in Orlando, FL, after finishing third in the New England Regional Championships this past Sunday.

This is the first time any Seekonk team has advanced to the national competition. They will be competing in the championships at the Silver Spurs Arena on Dec. 10.

The Jr. Warriors are currently trying to raise money to help defray the cost of travel and accommodations for the team. They are accepting donations addressed to Seekonk Jr. Warriors, P.O. Box 443, Seekonk, MA 02771.

The trip is estimated to cost between $10,000 and $12,000 and they have just over a week to raise the money.

“We have to start getting tickets and booking hotels because the rooms fill up fast,” said Mary Jane Bernard, president of the Seekonk Jr. Warriors. The team has already paid the registration fee and committed to competing in the event.
