Seekonk Student Recognized for Academic Excellence

Laura Clerx placed in the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered a national scholarship competition.

A big shout out goes out to Seekonk's Laura Clerx, who was recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation as a National Commended student. Clerx joined 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation recognized for their exceptional work. She placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition.

put itself on the map thanks to Clerx and her 17 classmates who have achieved Semifinalist or Commended status in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program – the largest percentage of honorees from any Massachusetts high school, according to the school.

"We are extremely proud of this exceptional class of five semi-finalists,” Principal Bill Runey said about all 18 Feehan students. “They are our largest class of honorees ever. This accomplishment is a testament to the strong academic environment at Feehan."
