Showtime Brings Broadway Hits to Seekonk
Showtime will be performing a selection of songs from Broadway musicals at the Seekonk Library this Saturday.

A trio of local musicians has been bringing Broadway musicals to people in southern New England for the past five years, and this Saturday they are coming to the .
Philip Campbell, along with Lori Maciel and Lois Conboy, will be performing a selection of songs from musical hits such as “My Fair Lady,” “Show Boat” and “Camelot.”
Their group, called Showtime, often performs at nursing homes and retirement communities, as these show tunes from the '40s and '50s are often most popular with an older crowd.

“Many of the people who love that kind of music can’t always get out to see it,” said Campbell. “We’ll bring good music to them.”
Campbell said the group started because they wanted to bring music to folks who can't get out as much as they’d like for whatever reason, be it disability, inclement weather or performances starting too late at night.

However, this does not mean the performances are limited to just the older generations. The performances are usually family affairs, with grandparents inviting their children and grandchildren to the audience as well.
“Young people can appreciate the good old stuff, too,” Campbell said.
All three members of the group are experienced musicians. Campbell has been singing for nearly 50 years, often in church and gospel choirs. Maciel has been singing in the Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra for the past decade. Conboy has been playing the piano since she was 14 years old and is currently the minister of music for the Community Church of Providence.
“What we really try to provide beyond good music is fun,” said Campbell.
The free performance will take place this Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.
