South Attleboro Village Lions To Honor Coronavirus Victims

A night of remembrance will be held at Lees Pond beginning Friday for the approximately 33 city residents who have died from the virus.

ATTLEBORO, MA — Nights of lights and remembrance will be held at Lees Pond in Attleboro beginning Friday in memory of the approximately 33 residents known to have died from the new coronavirus over the past eight weeks.

The South Attleboro Village Lions will help host the "We Light the Night in Remembrance" event in which residents are asked to honor the virus victims from a safe distance. The deceased will be honored with white bags with a black silhouette that will be placed around the pond near Route 1.

The tribute will begin on Friday from 8 to 9 p.m. and will continue nightly throughout the months of May and June.

Residents are invited to drive by, or stop by, wearing and mask and being mindful of social distancing.
