The starting first baseman opens up about the team, the start they are off to, school and a host of other topics.
Jake Silva will be the varsity starter at first base again this year. He held that post last year and plays some of the best defensive first base in the South Coast Conference.
Silva is also a starter at the power forward/center position for the varsity basketball team, coming off a disappointing season where his team fell a win short a postseason spot.
In addition to some outstanding athletic performance, Silva is first in the junior class at Seekonk. This young man embodies the ideal of a student athlete and Seekonk is lucky enough to have another year of his talents coming in the 2011-12 school year, as well as the coming basketball season and next baseball season.

But as Silva explains in his interview with Patch, next baseball season does not matter, because this team can make a run this season.
