Taxi Passenger Killed by Drunken Driver: Police

A man was killed when an allegedly drunken driver rear-ended his cab on I-95 in Attleboro.

A Rhode Island man was killed when a drunken driver struck the taxi he was riding in on Interstate 95, State Police said Saturday.

The crash came at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday prior to Exit 2 in Attleboro. According to police, a 2014 Kia Cadenza was being operated at "an extremely high rate of speed" on 95 South when it rear-ended a taxi.

The passenger, Kailash Bolar, 39, of Warwick, R.I., was pronounced dead at the scene. The cab driver, a 50-year-old Brockton man, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Kia, 41-year-old Michael Spinale of Roslindale, was arrested and charged with motor vehicle homicide/OUI liquor and negligent operation, speeding, failure to use care stopping, failure to stay in marked lanes.

Spinale is being held on $10,000 bail and will be arraigned in Attleboro District Court Monday.

The breakdown lane and right travel lane at the crash scene are closed as the scene is investigated.
