Update: Empty Lot in South Attleboro Cleared and Litter-Free
Gerry Vachon, owner of an empty lot in South Attleboro, has made some noticeable changes.
Residents in South Attleboro were not happy with an empty lot that became a and demanded something be done. So the lot's owner, Gerry Vachon, owner of Lance Buick, did something.
He hired a company to clear the brush and trees in the lot and clean up the space, which was covered in plastic bags, fast-food chain cups and empty quarts of oil.
Vachon, who said he pays the city $60,000 in taxes for the five-acre property that borders Newport Avenue, Angeline Street and Washington Street, originally welcomed the community, a church group or a local Scout troop to clean the empty lot. Vachon said he believed it was not his responsibility to clean the lot riddled with stuff thrown by people walking or driving past the property.

But Vachon has since taken on the responsibility to have the lot cleared of litter and brush.
"I'm having the site cleared to make it easier to maintain and make the site more pleasing to the neighbors and the city," Vachon said Tuesday.
