VIDEO: Dighton-Rehoboth/ Seekonk Hockey Beats Wareham

Led by great goaltending from Jake Roy and a hat trick from captain Adam Ferreira, the Falcons beat the Vikings to improve to 6-4.

The Falcons notched their sixth win of the year on Saturday, defeating the Vikings of Wareham 5-2 on their home ice at Driscoll Arena in Fall River. The Falcons got a special performance from Jake Roy in goal, which has become less for special occasions and more of a nightly occurrence this season.

"He's played well twice against us. He's a great goalie," said Ben Hathaway, the head coach of the Wareham Vikings. "He keeps making big saves and instilling confidence in his team. He did it against us last year too."

Roy was beaten only twice on the game, both times by Wareham's star left winger Billy Peterson. Both goals were scored while Seekonk was up by three or more and Roy had little chance because they both came on odd man rushes.

"Jake is playing unbelievable. He just beat the best goalie in the league," said D-R/Seekonk coach Ryan Cordeiro of his goalie. He added that his, "defense is clearing people out. Jake makes a save and they take away the followup chances."

The Falcons have gotten plenty of good nights out of Roy in net, but it means nothing if the team is not burying chances at the opposite end of the ice. Nick Graham and Ryan Gaucher contributed in that area, but it was the Adam Ferreira show in the Wareham zone.

Graham started off all the scoring six and a half minutes into the game, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead on a great feed from Sam DeBlois. Five minutes later, Ferreira got his first goal, a short handed marker, on a truly impressive individual effort while Gaucher was serving a tripping penalty.

As Gaucher was leaving the box for that infraction, Sam DeBlois got his second assist of the game, feeding Gaucher across the blue line for the Falcons' third goal of the night.

Ferreira would add his other two goals in the second period to ensure that this one never got too interesting for the large contingent who traveled from Seekonk. "They played how we're supposed to play. The last time we played them, we didn't bury our chances, tonight we did," said Cordeiro of his team's improvement from the last meeting with Wareham.

The coach is optimistic that his team will get to the ten win mark, resulting in a post season appearance, "We're 5-1 in our last six games, we should be 9-4 on Saturday."
