VIDEO: George R. Martin Father-Daughter Dance A Hit

Students and parents in formal wear travel 'Around the World.'

The girls of spent the evening boogying with their young friends  - and, in some cases, with their dads, grandpas, brothers and uncles - at last night's 'Around the World' themed Father-Daughter Dance.

Students and guests were greeted with International decor when they arrived including flags of various countries and mini sombreros. Each student was given a "passport" and throughout the night filled it with stickers from 15 countries passed around with help from members of the High School's Key Club, who had come to volunteer at the dance.

The girls wasted no time getting on the dance floor, and didn't let their fine dresses stop them from letting loose. According to DJ's Jim Calverley and John Poole of the local 80's cover band Retroactive, high on the list of requests were Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.

Mid-way through the evening Peter Tousignant was acknowledge for attending 17 consecutive dances with his seven daughters. Last night's dance will be his last. His wife, with daughters in tow, took to the stage and presented him with a special gift.

"When I came home from work today I was thinking about it," Tousignant said later, "I've been here 17 times and after that it's just dancing them away."

The dance also featured photo portraits by Melissa Bravo of Sky Studio, loads of food and treats donated by parents, and an extensive raffle.

According to Principal Kevin Madden, next year's theme is the Sock Hop.
