VIDEO: Q & A with Andrew Killian
Basketball and baseball player Andrew Killian reflects on his college prospects, Jacob Mayo memories and who's got the best hair on the team.
Chandley: Give us your general reflections on the season.
Killian: We kind of had bigger expectations. We wanted to win the conference, go to the tournament, and we came up short by one game. I feel like the whole team strengthened and grew together.
Q: Now that you've had some time to reflect, what are your thoughts on the late Jake Mayo?

A: Me and Sean (Heaney) we grew up with him. I'd have to say he was one of my best friends. We always kind of balanced each other out. I was the catcher, he was the pitcher, I'd go for a mound visit and we'd just kind of have to shut each other up. He was a great friend. After that, you realize what you had.
Q: What does next year look like for the basketball team without your class?

A: There is a strong core. Danny Silva, Jake Silva, Matt Foley, there's been a lot of improvement through the year. A lot of young guys have stepped up. They need to play a lot together this summer to get the chemistry up.
Q: Is there a replacement for you on the basketball team? Someone who leads on the court the way you do, keeping teammates in line?
A: Obviously we know that Matt Foley can be one of the goofiest kids, but I took it upon myself to kind of hang out with him and teach him. I think he's toughened up a lot. A lot of people are going to be surprised by him next year.
Q: What are your thoughts on the situation with the baseball coaching position?
A: Dave Hanson was a great guy, a great coach. I'm not sure about the politics involved and who's going to come in. He did a lot for me in terms of talking to college coaches, I wish him the best.
Q: What are you doing for summer vacation?
A: Montreal. You know, we're 18, so we're going to go do some sightseeing. Good clean fun in Canada.
Q: Any plans for college? Will you play any sports?
A: I got accepted to Assumption, Roger Williams, and URI. Hopefully I have a strong season my senior year and hopefully the coaches will offer me something. Baseball is my passion.
Q: Who is the team clown?
A: Matt Foley. Besides Mayo, he used to say the dumbest things in the world. Foley, sometimes you just want to knock him in the teeth but he's funny.
Q: Who has the best hair on the team?
A: It's not a player, but JV coach Pete Flaherty. He's got the gel going on.
Q: Whose iPod would you borrow for practice if you forgot yours?
A: Sean Heaney. I gave him my iPod like a year ago to update it for me and he still hasn't done it.
Q: Best movie you've seen recently?
A: Shutter Island. I like walking out of the movie theater having no idea who you are. That one was just like "Holy Smokes, what happened?"
Q: What is in the tray of your game system (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii) right now?
A: XBOX 360 NBA Live '10. It's not brand new but it's realistic.
Q: What's a surprising fact about you that we don't know?
A: I don't know how I'm going to make friends in college. I'm the weirdest son of a gun you've ever met. You would never guess that, but it's all good.
