VIDEO: Seekonk Hosts Little League District Tournament
The Massachusetts district six tournament is being hosted by Seekonk, and games will be played behind the Kevin Hurley Middle School over the next two weeks.
Seekonk's 11U all-stars have the opportunity to play for a district title without ever leaving town. The entire tournament will be hosted at the Seekonk Little League complex behind the Kevin Hurley Middle School.
The first round of game took place on Tuesday night, with Seekonk and Somerset advancing to round two in the winner's bracket. Matt Bourque had a great night, going 2-3 with three runs scored, he had a three run triple and closed the door on Taunton West in the sixth. Josh Machado started for Seekonk, allowing only one run and striking out four.
Seekonk will next play on Friday evening at 5:45 p.m., but games will be taking place at that time on Wednesday evening, Friday evening, and Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday of next week (July 10, 12 and 14). At 5:45 on the following Friday night (July 15) the championship game will be played.

If necessary, a second game will be played the following morning at 10 a.m. to decide the tournament. All of these games are at the Seekonk Little League complex, where fans are welcome to support the local team, or just take in a game.
The atmosphere is an interesting one. Families come from all over the district to support their youngsters, chants can be heard from field to field as the games carry on. There are concessions available at the fields, a necessity with three games running at a time and at least five of the six teams competing traveling from at least two towns away.
