Viewfinder: Cooking Up a Storm

Senior citizens take cooking lessons from a Johnson & Wales cooking student.

Tyler Bickford, a Johnson & Wales University sophomore from Portland, Maine takes his cooking skills to places far and wide. Bickford just returned from his training in Italy. One of the dishes that he received instruction was a simple yet delicious carbonara sauce - spaghetti a la carbonara.

This program, which is held weekly in the small kitchen of the Human Services building, is offered to the Seekonk Seniors. The students volunteer their time to come and give a hands on cooking lesson with a bonus of supper to take home.

The Seekonk Human Services are delighted with the ongoing partnership with Johnson & Wales University and especially Jennifer Rowan the coordinator of the Community Service Learning Program.
