Viewfinder: Junk Becomes Art with Memories

Jonathan's Cafe offers up more than good coffee and a delightful lunch, but a feast for the eyes with a collection of Jay's Garden Art.

Jonathan and Ann Friedman of have provided wall, floor and ceiling space for Attleboro artist, Jay Gafford.

Jay's Garden Art will take your broken tools and worn-out bikes and turn them into art for the yard or the home.

Gafford, who has worked with all types of metal for as long as he can remember, recalls an invitation by a friend to attend a welding class at It was during that class that Gafford realized that welding was a lot of fun.

The artist has worked for many of the metal fabricating companies in the area, but he changed career paths and entered a very different field–real estate. Although he was successful he didn't get the same sense of accomplishment as he did from art.

Today, he enjoys taking people's junk metal and turning it into something memorable. If you don't have your own junk he can help you out with supplies. When Jonathan's Cafe opened he offered the sign for the window and since then has been given floor space to sell and display his work. Gafford also sells his unique art via his Facebook Page
