Weather Delays Travel Plans for Route 6 Hotel Guests [VIDEO]

Some travelers extended their stays in Route 6 hotel rooms due to hurricane

Married couple Soyini Powell-Emery and Lauren Emery didn't plan on spending another night in Seekonk's Comfort Inn. The Philadelphia residents wanted to drive their daughter up to Brown University, move her in to a college dormitory and then drive the five hours back home. But, Hurricane Irene had other plans in mind for their Sunday night.

Instead, the couple will spend another night away from their pets to avoid getting trapped on the highway and 55 mph gusts.

But it could be worse, says the couple.

"As long as we have shelter and food, we're fine," Powell-Emery said.

They aren't alone. Groups could be seen in the lobbies. According to Comfort Inn staff, the weather patterns weren't a problem as they have extra rooms.
